Connect Groups

Getting connected with God, each other, and the world.

Connect Groups

At Riverdale Church, we are committed to helping people develop deeper relationships with God, each other, and the world around us. We firmly believe that getting involved with a Connect group is one of the best ways to accomplish this!

Connect groups run on a session basis. We offer a fall, winter and spring session. Each session runs approximately 8-10 weeks. There are always a variety of groups to choose from. You can join a new group each session, or you may choose to stick with the same Connect group throughout the year. Each connect group we currently offer will be listed below.

For more information about groups, contact Pastor Christy at christy@riverdalechurch.com

All the places to go… how will you know? - Virtual Group

Group Leaders: Tim & Vicki Atkinson

Group Study: “All the Places to Go… How Will You Know?”

Very rarely in the Bible does God command someone to “stay.” He opens a door, and then he invites us to walk through it—into the unknown. And how we choose to respond will ultimately determine the lives we will lead and the people we will become.

Bestselling author John Ortberg opens our eyes to the countless open doors God places before us every day, teaches us how to recognize them, and gives us the encouragement to step out in faith and embrace all of the extraordinary opportunities that await.

* This study will use videos from RightNow Media. It will also meet online via ZOOM. Purchasing a book is optional

Tuesday Nights

All Sides of The Savior - In Home Group

Group Leader: Scott Englar

Time: Tuesdays, 6:30-8:00pm, Sep 22-Nov 17

Location: HOME GROUP * Brooklyn Park

Group Study: All Sides of The Savior

As Christians, we often like to think of Christ in the context of the powerful God (i.e. Lion of Judah) that He is. And we are right to see Him this way! But, if we really want to understand him at our level, and if we want to grow in our understanding of this “Three-in-one God” that we have put our eternal hope in, then we really need to get a better understanding of how He could be fully human. In this group, we will be engaging with some interesting questions that are often hard for us to understand. There will be some thought-provoking discussion that will encourage us to seek a deeper relationship with our Lord and Savior.

This group will meet at the Englar’s home in Brooklyn Park, MN. Group capacity is 8 people. Masks are not required.

Jesus and Women - Virtual Group

Group Leader: Sarah Mohr

Time: Tuesdays, 7pm-8:30pm, Sep 22- Nov 10

Location: Virtual Women’s Group

Group Study: “Jesus and Women”

Imagine walking the dusty roads of Galilee with Jesus of Nazareth—braving jostling crowds just to touch the edge of His cloak and hear Him say, “Take heart, daughter, your faith has healed you.”

Those words, once meant to comfort a hurting woman’s soul thousands of years ago, were also meant for you.

Join biblical culturalist Kristi McLelland on those dusty roads as she transports you back to Jesus’ world, following in the footsteps of the women who came face-to-face with the Living God. Over 7 sessions, examine the historical and cultural climate of first-century Middle Eastern society to not only understand Jesus more deeply but to fuel your worship of Him today

*This group will require watching a 50-60 minute video each week before participation in a group ZOOM discussion. Purchasing a copy of the book “Jesus and Women” is highly recommended

Time: Tuesdays, 6pm, Sep 22-Nov 17

Location: Riverdale Church

Group: Am I The Only One? * Momentum Men’s Group

The Momentum Men's Ministry will be working through a biblically based study called: "Am I the Only One?" Rich Wolters will lead the study on Tuesday nights at Riverdale Church at 6pm. It will focus on the areas of life where we often feel like we are the only ones struggling, or maybe we believe we are struggling a lot more than the next guy.

Throughout the study, we will work to break down the lies associated with Anger, Shame, Finances, Marriage, Fatherhood, and Loneliness. In the process, we will realign ourselves with God's true direction for our lives.

  • There will not be any extra materials needed for the study. However, feel free to bring a notebook and pen to take notes.
